Tips for a healthy skin and nurtured hair

Your body battles toxins and environmental pollutants on daily basis. The biggest danger lies in fast food, hard water and the polluted air that the skin and hair are mostly exposed to. For skin and hair care you’ll have to detox more often and to introduce a slight but very important change in your diet.

80:20 rule

The basic rule for a healthy diet is that the balance between alkaline and acid food should be 80:20. If you eat too much acidic food it’ll reflect badly on the amount of potassium, calcium and magnesium which are very important for your bones, teeth and hair. Enrich your menu with alkaline food such as parsley, almonds, pears, lemons, apples and cut down on fish, cheese and eggs. After the diet changes, the next step is to revitalize your skin and hair.
Hair

Hard water minerals are a real danger for your hair because they can build up around your hair follicles. The solution for this is to use a water-softening filter. Fatal for your skin can be the polluters that dry the skin. Carbon monoxide and ozone can damage the protective layer causing redness and premature aging. To protect your skin from this kind of irritations, it is recommended to use a clay mask for regular and deep cleansing.  Clay’s negative charge attracts the positive charge of the unclean particles making them come to the surface.  Clay also cleans the skin from heavy metal residues in the water that dry the skin and it removes pore-clogging oily particles.

Revive your hair with scalp exfoliation and whiten your teeth with strawberries

It’s a myth that you don’t have to wash your hair as often in the winter period. Dead skin cells build up around hair follicles. To remove them use scalp exfoliation and salicylic acid-based products.  Wash your hair often using sulfate-free aloe vera shampoo. Your teeth also need cleaning, and the best thing for that are strawberries which are natural teeth whiteners.
Food detox

There is no proof that fasting, expensive skin and hair pills and detox drink help maintain elasticity and remove acne.
Choose proteins wisely

Hormones found in meat and dairy products can cause acne breakout. So, replace fatty pork with beef or chicken meat.
Cut down on sugar

Refined sugar stimulates glycation process that speeds up the aging process. Glycation can cause damage to the collagen and elastin that keep skin firm and elastic.  So replace refined sugar with natural, easy-digestible herbal sweeteners.
Apply a cream before going outside

The sun is the biggest enemy of your skin. UV rays exposure causes it to age, inflame and form free-radicals. It is recommended to apply a thin layer of hydrating cream every morning.
